6.27.2004: Phew

If you're reading this note, the move to the new server has been completed. In addition to the new look, the feedback and registration systems have been greatly improved thanks to a web server scripting language called PHP; something that wasn't available on the old server. For one thing, I'm now able to offer discounts for multiple registration. I have many more ideas in store that will take advantage of PHP and another technology caled MySQL, but those will have to wait for now.

But enough about that. If you wanted to know about the rest of the site you'd browse through it; since you're here I assume you want to read something interesting-trivial-funny-newsy-personal.

It's official! Chele made it into the summer and is not teaching summer school! I'm so proud. >sniff<

Other items a varying interest:

  • We're still waiting for an adoptable child. We're not planning on taking foster children at the moment; we're concentrating on the adoption-only side of things.
  • We'll be taking in an exchange student from Japan for a month. She'll be going to a new home elsewhere for the school year, but a group of exchange students are coming to the Quad Cities a month in advance to brush up on English before starting classes in the fall.
  • Looks like I'll finally have some classes to teach again in the fall. I'm looking forward to it!
  • I'd tell you what's going on with work; but I don't have a clue myself.

Up till recently I'd had a ton of 'projects' I'd been working on, and because of my own planning, some of the unimportant projects were becoming the most urgent. So I'm taking steps to rectify this, and concentrate on what really needs doing. Some of it has already been moved to the 'done' column, so I'm feeling a little less stressed. Phew.

The web server change over was one, and the corresponding new note (which you are reading now) is another. So the sooner I wrap this up...
